Behavior Management and Noncompliance Policy
Behavior Management and Noncompliance Policy
At Camp Judaea, we are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where all campers can thrive. Our community is built on the shared values of Kindness (Chesed), Integrity (Yosher), Respect (Kavod), and Responsibility (Achrayut), as outlined in Kehilat Lev Echad, our framework for community behavior and expectations.
To ensure a positive experience for everyone, all campers are expected to follow camp rules and uphold these values. While we do not expect perfection, we do expect all members of our community to strive for growth and to behave in a manner consistent with Kehilat Lev Echad.
Campers should understand that being a bystander or present during a violation of camp rules may result in disciplinary action and could be interpreted as participation. Campers are expected to remove themselves from such situations and seek help from a staff member.
The following policy outlines the steps taken when a camper does not comply with expectations. In some cases, certain conduct will prompt immediate dismissal, while others will generally follow the guidelines outlined below. In all cases, decisions about camper behavior is at the discretion of Camp leadership.
Warning & Guidance
Counselors and Merakzim (unit leaders) will serve as the first line of intervention with camper behaviors. They will use collaborative problem-solving to address camper misbehavior. When appropriate, they will involve members of the Kehilah Care Team and parents may be contacted depending on the circumstances.
Parent/Guardian Notification & Consequences
If the behaviors continue, the camper may lose privileges and be required to complete appropriate restorative actions. Parents/guardians will be contacted to partner in addressing the situation(s). A behavior agreement will be created outlining expectations, supports, consequences and next steps/timeline moving forward. Parents/guardians will receive a copy of the behavior agreement.
Dismissal from Camp
Any Camper who is dismissed will be sent home at their parent/guardian's expense and is not eligible for any tuition, fee, or other refund. A parent/guardian will have 24 hours to pick up their camper. If a camper is dismissed for behavior concerns, there will be a re-interview process to determine whether they can return in a subsequent summer.
Refer to the Session Rules and Camper Code of Conduct for Camp Policies listed in the CJ Family Guide and the signed forms in CampInTouch.
