Special Programs
โฝ๏ธ๐ค๐จ๐๐ Chuggim (Electives): Individual electives allow for campers to customize their schedule and receive more specialized instruction. Campers will have two electives a day and switch their electives mid-summer. This will allow campers to have four choice activities a session and include more of the activities we do daily (art, ropes course, court sports, etc.) but also allowing our staff to share their talents with our campers.
โญ๏ธ Peulah Eda (Age Group Education Activity): Each age group has an educational theme. During Peulah Eda, campers will have an experiential learning block where they have a fun and informal activity around their educational theme.
๐ Tochnit Erev (Evening Activities): Each night campers will enjoy creative Tochnit Erev (nighttime activities) with their unit (eda). These activities include: pool parties, talent shows, dance parties, paint war and of course traditional campfires (with sโmores!).
๐ญ Hatzagah (Camp-Wide Play): Campers can choose to participate in our camp-wide production either as a performer or backstage crew.
๐โค๏ธ๐ค๐๐ Bikkurim (Maccabiah/Color War): This is the biggest surprise and most well-kept secret of the summer.ย The day is a 24-hour, high spirited competition between the Blue, Red, Green, Yellow & White teams.ย Bikkurim incorporates lots of healthy competitions in sports, wisdom, creativity and ruach (spirit). The day will culminate with the final cheer and plaque presentation from all the teams.ย Bikkurim is top secret, so we canโt spill too much!
๐๏ธ๐ณ Tiyulim (Day Trips): All of our full session campers go on two trips during the summer! Campers go on an outdoor adventure day trip where they explore nature on hikes, through water activities, at nature centers, and more! Additionally, campers go bowling at Tarheel Lanes - a cherished CJ tradition. *All trips are weather-permitting and subject to change.
๐คฉ Yom Kef (Day of Fun): Get ready for a new addition to our special โYomsโ โ Yom Kef! This day will be packed with games, adventures, and full of surprises, promising an unforgettable experience for our campers.
Shabbat
A fun and relaxing Shabbat amidst the natural splendor of our camp is one of the highlights of each camperโs summer experience. Shabbat takes place on Saturdays, and it allows the campers a day of rest. Campers have chofesh (free time) - they can choose to sit and read under a tree, play cards with friends, swim at the pool or just relax in one of our pavilions with friends. Shabbat comes to a close on the basketball courts under the stars as we do Havdalah and then break into Rikkud (Israeli dancing). Rikkud is the highlight of every week!
Shabbat Packing Tip: Bring a white shirt/outfit for Friday night and a bright, wacky outfit for Saturday night's extreme, high-energy dance party!

Snacks and Hydration
In the afternoon, campers will get a healthy snack before resuming the activity day. We have hydration stations located in the Chadar Ochel (dining hall) and across camp so campers can keep their water bottles full.
Food Allergies and Sensitivities
We work closely with our chefs to assist our campers with special dietary needs and our pickier eaters. We can accommodate most food allergies and food sensitivities. Food allergies and sensitivities can be recorded in your Campminder forms. If you have any concerns about dietary issues, please contact Francine Safdeye.
